Keithley PIO-24 Digital I/O Interface Board
The Keithley PIO-24 is a versatile parallel digital I/O interface board designed for IBM PCs and compatibles. 24 lines of high-current digital input/output are available, arranged into three PA, PB, and PC ports that are compatible with TTL and CMOS. The PIO-24 is extremely versatile for a range of applications, including reading switch inputs, controlling peripherals, and activating relays, because each port can be set as an input or output. To improve compatibility with current systems, the board operates in Control Word Mode 0 and emulates the 8255 Programmable Peripheral Interface.
The PIO-24 can theoretically handle a large range of input and output voltages and currents. The input high voltage spans 2.0 to 5.0V, whereas the input low voltage spans -0.5 to +0.8V. The board offers two output voltages: a high voltage of 2.7V with a source current of 3mA and a low voltage of up to 0.55V with a sink current of 64mA. In order to provide effective and dependable operation in complicated systems, it also has an interrupt input channel with an interrupt-enable line that may be routed to six different interrupt levels on the PC Bus.
The PIO-24 works with Microsoft Windows 95/98 or Windows NT 4.0 or higher and requires a PC/AT (386 or Pentium CPU) with at least 2 MB of RAM. It includes DriverLINX software, which makes configuration and integration easier. The SFC-37 Mating Connector, C-1800 Flat Cable, STA-U Screw Connector Panel, and other accessories for the PIO-24 improve its usability and functionality in a variety of applications.
