Keysight/Agilent M9710A AXIe High-Speed Digitizer / DAQ
The Keysight/Agilent M9710A is a 1-slot PCIe high-speed digitizer & data acquisition system that features 10-bit resolution on all four phase-coherent input channels. The digitizer has a sampling rate of 5 GS/s per channel with an interleaved mode allowing two channels to be sampled at 10 GS/s. Each of the 2.5 GHz bandwidth's four channels can be used separately for applications such as advanced physics, hydrodynamics, aerospace defense testing, and multiple channel research. All four channels are DC coupled with 50 ohms impedance that have selectable 250 mV or 1 V full-scale ranges with ± full-scale offsets so that signals of various amplitude levels can be recorded. With optimized frequency responses and high dynamic range, the Keysight M9710A can accurately analyze pulses. It has support for both Windows and Linux operating systems, allowing for easy automation integration.
Inside each M9710A, Keysight developed proprietary ICs that contain low noise, low distortion signal conditioning amplifiers along with a jitter-minimizing clock system. These features provide a flat frequency response with a typical SFDR greater than 56 dBc across the entire analysis band width. The two Xilinx Virtex-6 FPGAs contained within the High-Speed Digitizer are responsible for real-time processing of acquired data, sending the processed data via PCIe, and storage of up to 8 GB (1.6 GSamples/Channel) of DDR3 memory. In addition, the two FPGAs also function as a 15 ps RMS trigger time interpolator to allow for accurate time-correlated captures. Furthermore, the clock system design of the Keysight/Agilent M9710A minimizes jitter and spurious frequencies, providing accurate pulse analysis capabilities at times less than hundreds of picoseconds. Additionally, the clock system enables multi-channel characterization capabilities.
The modular AXIe design allows it to function in a variety of configurations, from eight channels with two digitizer cards in a 2-slot chassis to fifty-two channels with thirteen cards in a fourteen-slot chassis. When equipped with the M9506A chassis containing a built-in Linux-based controller (option BC1), secure SCPI-over-LAN control will make it easier to perform complex high channel count acquisitions similar to what would occur at a benchtop level. The M9506A chassis provides Gen 3 PCI Express connectivity, quiet cooling, and up to 300W of power per slot. With supported software platforms such as PathWave VSA and U1092A multichannel acquisition software available for both Windows and Linux operating systems, the Keysight M9710A forms a stable foundation for automated testing, experimental physics research, and defense-related data acquisition activities.
