Keysight/Agilent E7571A E1 Balanced Line Interface Module
The Keysight E7571A E1 Balanced Line Interface Module is a module that can be connected to the mainframe of the Keysight Signaling Advisor. It enables telecommunications engineers to perform detailed 2.048 Mb/s digital transmission tests. With eight fully independent receivers, the Keysight Signaling Advisor enables simultaneous (non-invasive) monitoring of four bi-directional links. In doing so, it greatly increases test coverage (i.e., eliminates the need for additional equipment) and does not disrupt normal service operation. When used as part of an integrated protocol analysis platform, the Keysight E7571A reduces the time required to troubleshoot both current and legacy voice, data, and signaling services, including SS7 & ISDN PRI.
The E7571A supports both HDB3 & AMI line codes and can be configured to operate with frames that are ITU-T G.732 compliant, which include CRC4 multi-frame alignment per G.704. Additionally, the E7571A provides comprehensive Layer 1 Alarm Surveillance functionality by providing real-time detection of Loss Of Signal (LOS), Alarm Indication Signal (AIS), Line Code Violations (LCV), Out Of Frame (OOF) conditions, Remote Alarm Indications (RAI), and CRC4 Multi-frame Errors (MFE). It has a timestamp accuracy of +/-12 ms, allowing engineers to correlate events between multiple E1 spans accurately. Therefore, engineers can rapidly determine where intermittent physical-layer failures have occurred.
When using the Keysight E7571A to verify the quality of the backhaul connection in wireless networks utilizing GSM, UMTS, or LTE technology, the module provides full decode capability at the sub-rate levels of GSM of 32 kb/s, 16 kb/s, and 8 kb/s along with TRAU frame examination for transcoder rate adaptation. In addition to full decode capability at these sub-rates, the Keysight E7571A also provides fractional E1 support, which enables selective timeslot monitoring in both leased-line and private-circuit configurations. There are eight Bantam connectors available from which to connect probes/analyzers safely and reliably via either a 120-ohm terminated connection or a 3.7-kohm bridged connection.
These types of connections ensure that the probe/analyzer taps into the signal path while preserving signal quality. The maximum loss due to termination accounts for a fixed amount of 30 dB less than any cable loss at 1.024 MHz. Bridging losses account for a fixed amount of 6 dB loss at that same frequency. The onboard clock recovery will lock to a frequency of 2.048 MHz ± 50 ppm, maintaining synchronization even on marginally stable links, which is critical for field diagnostics.
