Keysight/Agilent E7575A DS0 Line Interface Module
The Keysight E7575A is a special-purpose plug-in module developed specifically for the Signaling Advisor (SA) mainframe. It provides an alternative to traditional intrusive methods for viewing digital signaling link traffic in telecom networks. The E7575A is used by field engineers to provide non-intrusive observation of up to eight independent receiver modules across four bi-directional DS0 channels of the SA's mainframe. The E7575A observes traffic in real-time without interfering with the operation of the live services. The E7575A operates at either a selectable data rate of 64 kbps or 56 kbps and maps directly onto the standard time slot assignments of T1 and E1 signals.
On the front panel of the E7575A, there are four Bantam-type connectors used for connection to typical telecom test cables. Additionally, there is one female DB9 connector used to synchronize clocks from an outside source. The E7575A uses only Alternate Mark Inversion (AMI) type of line coding to record raw, unframed bitstream information, which will be analyzed by the higher-level decoder units located in the chassis. The receiver sensitivity characteristics of the E7575A allow for a mark voltage range of ±2.7V and greater than 5.5V and a space voltage of 0V±1.0V. Therefore, this allows for consistent signal detection under varying environmental conditions in the field. The E7575A can be configured for either a 135-ohm terminated load condition or a high impedance bridge mode condition having an impedance of greater than 2000 ohms. Configuring the E7575A for one of these two operating modes ensures that no electrical connection is made to the signal under test, thereby preventing any degradation of the signal under test during its measurement.
In addition, built-in level 1 alarms give technicians instant indication when a loss of signal occurs, when a clock cycle is lost, and/or when a byte clock cycle is lost. Thus, technicians have immediate visibility into the cause of failure at the physical layer. The E7575A has a receive clock tolerance of ±1%, so it can maintain synchronization regardless of whether the timing on the transmission line varies. Also, the E7575A has a timing stamp accuracy of approximately ±350 milliseconds at 64 kb/s. Therefore, technicians can correlate events very accurately. Typical applications for the E7575A include commissioning/maintenance of SS7, ISDN, and channel-associated signaling circuits and testing/validating digital trunks in central office environments and protocol laboratories.
The combination of multi-channel monitoring capabilities, flexible termination options, and detailed alarm reporting makes the E7575A a highly effective tool to help minimize downtime in both legacy and hybrid circuit-switched networks.
