Keysight/Agilent J3759B E3/DS3 ATM/WAN Module
This Keysight J3759B plug-in module converts all existing Advisor mainframes into an E3 and DS3 ATM/WAN test set. As such, engineers can now easily observe and evaluate both of these dual-port circuit types without the need for any additional converter units. The J3759B operates at 34.368 Mbit/s (E3) and 44.736 Mbit/s (DS3), thus capturing traffic in real-time that has been encapsulated as ATM cells, Frame Relay, HDLC, and PPP services. These captured packets enable automation engineers to validate data throughput, delay, and protocol compliance in mixed industrial network environments. Each of its two separate receive ports are capable of terminating, repeating, or bridging with high impedance to facilitate easy deployment of the J3759B unit right onto the live production paths with minimal downtime required during the diagnosis process.
The Keysight J3759B automatically identifies up to 1024 Virtual Circuits (VCs); monitors each VC for utilization, total number of cells received, and total number of HEC errors; and provides LOS, LOF, AIS, RDI, and line code violation information related to the physical layer. In addition, Frame Relay statistics such as throughput, FCS error rate, CIR measurements, and FRF.13 SLA verification metrics are available along with ITU-T O.191 QoS metrics such as CDV and cell loss ratio. A 64-Mbyte buffer is used to store full line rate ATM cells with 100-nanosecond timestamping. Built-in BERT functions provide users with a means of injecting PRBS 2^23-1 patterns into payload bits as well as providing users with 4000-byte user-defined patterns for WAN validation.
When conducting active testing, the J3759B sends line alarm conditions such as AIS (Alarm Indication Signal), RDI (Remote Defect Indicator), and Yellow X-bit signals. Also, the J3759B simulates equipment failures as well. Both inputs/outputs utilize 75-ohm BNC connectors using HDB3 or B3ZS line encoding schemes with variable transmit level options (high, DSX, and low) to accurately model realistic cable lengths up to 270 meters. Internal clocking utilizes a +20ppm clock source or recovered loop timing. The J3759B generates artificially created ATM cell streams to perform quality of service testing utilizing FRF.13 SLA traffic patterns and BER (Bit Error Rate) pattern generation using PRBS 2^23-1 along with user-defined 4000-byte sequences. In addition, the J3759B is able to perform simultaneous full-duplex stimulation and analysis, which is particularly useful for bidirectional link commissioning. Therefore, the J3759B is a fully functional portable field test instrument that allows for immediate validation of industrial WAN performance.
