Keysight/Agilent J4649A T1 Primary Rate ISDN Modules for the Keysight Advisor
The J4649A from Keysight/Agilent is a module that extends the capabilities of the Keysight Advisor platform by adding the ability to perform specialized analysis of T1 lines operating at speeds of 1.5 megabits/second. The Keysight J4649A features 100-ohm RJ-45 connectors and WECO mini-Bantam jacks to provide direct physical access to Primary Rate ISDN circuits. Network technicians and industrial automation engineers are able to use the Keysight J4649A to acquire, decode, and troubleshoot ISDN PRI signaling, bearer channels, and higher layers of communication using T1 spans. It has full protocol analysis capabilities from Layer 1 to Layer 7 and supports Primary Rate ISDN, Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP), Asynchronous PPP, and Multi-link PPP bundles. The ISDN module also decodes Q.921 and Q.931 messages related to call setup and teardown and PPP negotiation sequences to help confirm integrated voice and data services operate correctly over legacy T1-based infrastructure.
In addition to protocol analysis capabilities, the J4649A also contains a BERT (Bit Error Ratio Testing) capability to test the quality of the T1 line without requiring external test equipment. The BERT capability allows users to measure error rates, Frame Slips, Alarm Conditions etc... effectively allowing users to identify Physical Layer Impairments that may impact PRI Performance. The Keysight/Agilent J4649A can capture full-duplex traffic in real time and store large buffers for post-capture examination on the Keysight Advisor Interface. Service Personnel can use the module to Diagnose Fragmentation Issues associated with Multi-Link PPP Bundles, Verify T1 Clocking, and Validate ISDN Layers Compatibility in Hybrid Networks.
