Keysight/Agilent J5434A SAN Network Analyzer
The Keysight/Agilent J5434A is a SAN Network Analyzer used by industrial automation engineers and field technicians to analyze the convergence of Storage Area Networks (SANs) using Expert Analysis Protocol decode. The application decodes all major protocols, including iSCSI, iFCP, FCIP, iSNS, CIFS & NFS; thus, it delivers total insight into both block and file storage over IP. It operates as an integrated expert analysis application running on either the J6800A, J6802B, J6805A, or J6840A platforms. This expert analysis tool will accelerate the diagnosis of faults in complex SAN architectures by automatically identifying protocol mismatches and configuration errors, therefore reducing the amount of time required to develop manufacturing networks and reduce downtime.
In addition, this analyzer allows field engineers to perform real-time iSCSI over TCP stream decoding with a customizable run-time display and a robust text search for the rapid identification of faults from capture buffers. In order to precisely match the various device configurations found in many different environments, detailed message type filtering is available along with the ability to manually select which version of iSCSI will be analyzed and customizable options for adjusting the header and data digest settings. The analyzer can collect at full rate, full duplex capture on 10/100/1000 Ethernet and provides analysis of iSCSI on ATM, Frame Relay, and HDLC networks. Additionally, the analyzer provides Ethernet MAC statistics on error counts, collision counts, and bad FCS frame counts. Due to the completeness of the decoder's functionality, the verification of storage protocol handshake communications and data integrity among multiple vendors becomes much faster than previously possible.
Manufacturers of network equipment and service providers use the J5434A to verify connectivity and measure storage transaction throughput in industrial automation systems. These systems typically consist of newer IP-based storage combined with older WAN technologies such as ATM, Frame Relay & HDLC. Therefore, the analyzer's ability to analyze each one of these WAN technologies ensures complete validation of a company's SAN infrastructure. Ultimately, by rapidly isolating misconfigured devices and validating protocol integrity, the tool greatly reduces Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) in production environments; additionally, the tool ensures continued data availability in automated manufacturing lines and process control networks through its single point analysis of both IP-based storage protocols and Ethernet link health.
