Keysight/Agilent J6790A Application Analyzer
The Keysight/Agilent J6790A Application Analyzer is a distributed network performance analysis tool that allows users to have full end-to-end visibility of how applications and services are delivered throughout the extended enterprise. Network engineers can now install lightweight browser-based probes anywhere in their network using a simple web-based console. These probes will allow them to run multiple tests (up to ten at once) simultaneously, regardless of whether they are running on LAN, ATM, Frame Relay, or Wi-Fi. In addition, this tool has the ability to automatically schedule testing periodically (every day of every week) to establish baseline performance for critical business applications (HTTP/FTP/SQL/VoIP), to identify intermittently occurring problems without having to rely on GPS synchronized timing equipment.
The J6790A integrates active traffic generation capabilities along with passive Cisco SAA & RMON capabilities to enable customers to isolate faults in multi-vendor environments. This product also validates Quality of Service policies by allowing test packets to be marked with either DiffServ or TOS/COS bits. Additionally, it measures one-way delay/jitter/packet loss for both voice and data services. When thresholds are violated during a test session, the operator receives immediate notification via email, SNMP traps, or script execution. The application also includes Matrix Analysis capability, which shows how responsive an application is between any number of locations. Also, the Matrix Analysis does not require firewalls to be removed in order to measure responsiveness between two different endpoints.
Operating under Windows 2000, the Application Analyzer offers both a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for ease of use and a command-line scripting engine that makes it possible to automate deployments of large numbers of probes across very complex networks. All performance reports generated by the tool are accessible via a web browser, making it easy for distributed teams working together to share real-time information. The Keysight/Agilent J6790A verifies that each user's desktop has the correct application response time and/or service quality (regardless if they are local, remote, or accessing it through a VPN). This tool will help companies get new services deployed faster, improve their network reliability, and reduce the amount of overhead associated with keeping their applications performing consistently throughout their entire IP infrastructure.
