Keysight/Agilent N5340A Test Module for RP3 and RP1
The Keysight/Agilent N5340A Base Station Test Extension Module is an extension of the Keysight N2X modular chassis that allows engineers working on OBSAI base stations to verify both link-layer stimulus and analysis for base station architectures. Engineers can use this product to independently validate all aspects of their base band, RF, and remote RF (RRF) modules using the RP3 and RP1 digital interfaces. The Keysight N5340A eliminates the need for a complete base station system in order to perform a wide range of interface validation activities.
The Base Station Test Extension Module is capable of simulating link-layer behavior to create predictable traffic patterns and also maintains tight synchronization with the unit being tested. This creates isolated communication paths between the base band and RRF units. This product enables developers to accelerate their development process while allowing them to coordinate multi-port testing and system-level integration within the same chassis.
Configuration options on the Keysight/Agilent N5340A include generating and receiving RP3 and RP3-01 frames; creating and receiving RP1 sync bursts; configuring up to five unidirectional links per pair for various OBSAI link speeds (i.e., 1x, 2x, and 4x); and providing link layer emulation functions of either a baseband, RF, RRF, or control and clock module to provide customers with a method of validating interoperability, margin testing, and link integrity checking. In addition to these capabilities, the Keysight N5340A has built-in error injection capabilities to allow users to intentionally introduce errors into the frames generated for the purpose of testing the DUT's ability to recover from such errors as well as test how robustly the DUT will operate. These are key factors that contribute to rapid fault tolerance testing.
The Keysight N5340A has triggering capabilities that help facilitate quick root cause analysis by capturing bus activity during a specified time period immediately after a specific event occurs. This capability helps debug intermittent link failures. The N5340A also supports Ethernet and control messages, which enables customers to debug their high-layer protocols as well as physical connectivity. The Extension Module is compatible with multiple chassis platforms and can be easily upgraded as customer needs grow from early-stage bus-level design verification through multi-module system integration testing. Customers do not have to purchase additional hardware each time they want to test different levels of their system.
