Keysight/Agilent U3055A SerialTek Protocol Analyzer
The U3055A Protocol Analyzer from Keysight (formerly from Agilent) can analyze SAS/SATA protocols at speeds of up to 12Gb/s. This is beneficial to storage developers & industrial automation engineers who need to identify and troubleshoot intermittent protocol issues in servers, RAID arrays, and embedded storage systems. The four bidirectional ports on the analyzer, along with a growing trace buffer (up to 72 GB), will enable users to record command sequences without interruption. Additionally, the lightweight enclosure makes it easy to cascade multiple units together to enable time-aligned captures from multiple domains simultaneously. The analyzer captures SAS-3 and SATA link rate protocols with no dead time using out-of-band signaling capabilities. The U3055A offers complete protocol visibility and analysis capabilities for captured data.
Captured traces are transferred from the Protocol Analyzer at speeds of up to 550MB/s via PCI Express X4 and/or 70MB/s via Gigabit Ethernet. Legacy analyzers typically have slow transfer times. In addition to fast transfers, the U3055A has a number of features such as pre-indexed compressed storage and InstaSearch technology that allows users to view large amounts of data quickly. Up to eight trigger sequencer combinations may be used to isolate specific SCSI commands, primitives, and error conditions. Compressed primitive compression reduces the size of captured data even further, which improves both search time and archived trace file size. The U3055A's hardware accelerated search engine will scan through the entire buffer within seconds. The Live Decode Window will update as data is streaming into the analyzer.
Eye-opener front end & tunable RX/TX signaling ensure high accuracy when capturing the electrical signal and are supported by a 500 ps timestamp resolution that shows jitter and timing skew. There are seven LED indicators located on each port, indicating link speed, OOB state, framing, 10b errors, command status & error status. The analyzer also includes an XML-based decode engine that enables users to create their own custom protocol dissectors. Users will find the SAS Address Table and Real-Time Performance Dashboards helpful when analyzing throughput and latency. Captured data may be exported to CSV, HTML, or XML formats. There is also an integrated API available to automate regression testing and manufacturing test routines. Due to its ability to hold a lot of data in its buffer, its rapid transfer capabilities, and its high accuracy triggering, this analyzer is an essential tool for firmware bring-up, compliance verification & storage system integration.
