Keysight/Agilent U3056A SerialTek BusXpert PRO II 12G SAS/SATA Analyzer
The U3056A SerialTek BusXpert PRO II from Keysight/Agilent is a very portable serial bus analyzer that was developed for debugging the SAS and SATA interfaces used in high-performance storage systems (enterprise) and embedded systems. This device can capture either SAS or SATA at speeds up to 12 Gb/sec on two lanes or six 2.5 Gb/sec per lane and will capture four channels of bi-directional traffic simultaneously. It has an onboard trace buffer of up to 72GB. The product consists of the analyzer base unit, a universal 100VAC–240VAC power supply, and the BusXpert PRO II software, which uses XML as its decoding method, allows you to create your own decode definitions, and also offers API access to automate the creation of reports. The BusXpert PRO II can send traces over a PCIe x4 interface up to 550MB/sec or via Gigabit Ethernet at up to 70MB/sec. Both are much faster than downloading traces directly from the BusXpert PRO II’s memory. The BusXpert PRO II can accelerate the process of displaying and searching through traces by storing them in hardware-accelerated format as pre-indexed and compressed files. In addition, it allows you to instantly view and rapidly find any error within a trace file by utilizing InstaSearch technology.
Design engineers in industrial automation, server validation, and developing storage controllers utilize this analyzer when they need to diagnose problems such as link errors, command timeouts, and other protocol issues without being required to have a specific trigger condition. The Eye-Opener front-end provides variable control of RX/TX signal strength and timing, allowing for accurate capture of data streams at extremely high data rates. Utilizing up to eight different triggers simultaneously, along with pre- and post-triggers, filtering, and sequence search capabilities allow design engineers to quickly locate intermittent faults in large-scale high-throughput storage networks. Additionally, multiple devices can be connected together so that designers may synchronize their captures based on time and/or events occurring on many different ports. Designers will receive immediate visual indication of each port's operational state during live testing due to the presence of LEDs on each port indicating operational speed, out-of-band signals, link-state, frame errors, and command errors. Trace data captured by the BusXpert PRO II can be outputted in various forms, including CSV, HTML, and XML, for further processing after capture. Live performance analysis and a live SAS address table provide designers with valuable diagnostic tools enabling designers to perform real-time diagnosis. Any designer who needs to see inside the SAS/SATA protocol flow but does not want to wait or run low on available trace buffer space should consider purchasing a BusXpert PRO II.
