Keysight/Agilent U4431A MIPI M-PHY Protocol Analyzer
The Keysight/Agilent U4431A is a MIPI M-PHY Protocol Analyzer designed for decoding high-speed serial interfaces in the design of mobile systems, automotive applications, and embedded storage. The Modular AXIe Blade captures UniPro, UFS, CSI-3, SSIC, and M-PCIe traffic on up to four lanes. The U4431A has the capability to store tens of seconds of data at full HS-G3 speeds using user-allocated memory up to 16GB. Real-time error detection occurs across all applicable layers (physical, link, network, transport, and application) while providing nanosecond-level burst timing, link state information, and protocol event measurement markers.
The U4431A comes equipped with an impedance-probing system as well as a custom-designed graphical interface, which will display packets, headers, payloads, and raw 8b/10b waveform data in synchronization. The U4431A's flexible triggering engine offers the ability to create sequences with eight levels of logic, timer-based logic, and bit-level pattern-matching capabilities on both command protocol and payload data. Additionally, automatic speed-detection and lane-polarity remapping enable engineers to easily connect to their evolving DUT configurations. For complete bus analysis, multiple time-correlated blades can be used simultaneously in a single chassis to capture data from several M-PHY buses.
Option 613 for the U4431A allows it to act as a packet generator by bringing up the link to emulate a host device for UFS and UniPro devices. Once emulated, the host initiates read/write transactions against the target device, capturing all responses. When operating together, the two modes allow users to perform controlled-stimulus compliance tests for their UFS- or UniPro-based devices and utilize automated test executive UFS20COMP and/or UNI16COMP. Users have the ability to use Python scripting along with hundreds of pre-built test cases to expedite their verification efforts.
Besides being utilized in many aspects of industrial automation and validation laboratories for the initial setup of storage interfaces, camera pipelines, and chip-to-chip interconnects, the U4431A provides its users with detailed protocol analysis to help identify intermittent timing problems and validate power-mode transitions prior to entering production. With the unique combination of interactive debugging capabilities and automated conformance testing abilities, the U4431A accelerates product development cycle times for flash storage arrays, sensor hubs, and communication modules developed around the MIPI ecosystem.
