Keysight/Agilent U4611A Protocol Analyzer for USB 3.0/2.0
The U4611A USB Protocol Analyzer from Keysight (formerly from Agilent) can collect both SuperSpeed USB 3.0 (5Gbps) as well as simultaneous collections of both high- and low-speed USB 2.0 Traffic (1.5Mbps/12Mbps/480Mbps). This provides embedded developers and automation engineers with deeper insights into link states and packet errors, as well as other protocol handshake events, than what are available from software tools alone. Because the U4611A collects all speed grades of USB simultaneously, it eliminates the need to purchase separate analyzers for different speed grades.
The U4611A's Trace Buffer will scale up to 9GB for continuous long duration captures. Larger buffers capture those infrequent intermittent failures, which may be missed by shorter capture durations. Real-Time Indexing also reduces storage requirements in real time while allowing users to scroll through an entire capture with reasonable response times. Users are able to minimize down time in their debugging cycles using the U4611A's high speed offloading capabilities of either Gigabit Ethernet at 70MBps or PCI Express at 500MBps. The MegaZoom Analysis capability built into the U4611A instantly generates Bus Utilization Histograms, Scatter Plots, and LTSSM Diagrams for quick access to information.
With its precision triggering capability on the U4611A, users are able to isolate those elusive faults using the four independent sequencer capabilities of the analyzer. Each Sequencer has the ability to run 26 state programs with multi-way branching, use up to 32 counters, and have up to 32 timers. Users create Compound Conditions based upon Packet Payload, Link Commands, External Logic, etc., that allow them to capture only the traffic that is associated with intermittent disconnects. An input/output port on the Protocol Analyzer allows users to synchronize it with oscilloscopes or logic analyzers for correlation of USB protocol activity with analog signals, digital control lines, or power transients.
In Industrial Automation applications the U4611A is used to validate the operation of USB based Vision Cameras, Data Acquisition Modules, and Real Time Controllers. In these applications Deterministic Latency is Critical; thus, the devce identifies Periodic Transfer Bursting, Isochronous Gaps, Endpoint Flow-Control Glitches and other anomalies that could affect Machine Vision and Sensor Dropout. Complete visibility into link training and power management transitions provide designers with the necessary information to "harden" their design against reset of the bus and compliance failures. The Keysight/Agilent U4611A comes equipped with a 90W AC Power Supply and features a Compact Bench Top Form Factor
