Keysight/Agilent M9817AS PXI Vector Component Analyzer
Keysight's M9817AS PXIe Vector Component Analyzer integrates a signal analyzer and vector network analyzer (VNA) into a single PXIe module, spanning 100 kHz to 44 GHz. The instrument is designed specifically for characterizing active multiport devices (AMPDs), including beamformer ICs, Tx/Rx modules, and front-end modules used in 5G satellite communications and radar systems. With the ability to measure both S-parameter/gain/phase along with modulation analysis such as adjacent channel power/EVM in a single test environment, this instrumentation allows customers to eliminate the inefficiencies associated with having multiple test stations and additional switch hardware required to perform these tests.
The M9817AS includes an M9807A PXI VNA, one or more M9817A receiver modules, all necessary interconnection cabling, and a Quick Start Guide. The base configuration includes two test ports that are integrated into the chassis and a single internal source capable of delivering output power levels up to +10 dBm. The Receiver has a Display Average Noise Level (DANL) of –144 dBm @ 1 GHz and supports a Dynamic Range of 140 dB. When performing full active device stimulus response testing, the analyzer may be paired with a stand-alone vector signal generator or a PXI vector adapter to add modulated excitation capability to the system."
Multi-port scalability is another key feature of this instrumentation. The M9817AS is designed to support simultaneous measurements on a configurable number of ports. In addition to providing true multi-port operation capabilities, the analyzer will also provide multi-port error correction capabilities. These features allow the user to take advantage of coherent phase and magnitude data across channels when measuring antenna arrays and beam-forming networks. Additional receiver modules can be easily added to the system as needed, allowing users to purchase capital equipment based upon their evolving test requirements. Uncorrected error terms typically remain less than 2 dB from 100 kHz to 500 kHz and reach 7 dB in the 27 GHz to 40 GHz frequency range, giving users confidence in raw measurement accuracy prior to correction.
Besides fast measurement speeds, which increase throughput in validation and production environments, the modular PXI form factor minimizes rack space and cost. The integration of vector component analysis into a single scalable platform simplifies complex RF component characterization and accelerates the development of next-generation wireless systems.
