Keysight/Agilent M3407A PXI Interface Module
The Keysight M3407A PXI interface card is designed specifically to provide an individual ARINC 429 test and simulation capability for use in avionics testing systems. It can be installed in a 3U PXI hybrid slot in your PXI test chassis to read/write, detect errors, and decode all ARINC 429 data buses that connect to line replaceable units (LRUs). The module has scalable channel capabilities from 4 to 32 completely software-defined TX/RX paths that are user-configurable, so you do not have to reconfigure separate pieces of hardware. Each TX/RX path is independently programmable with respect to direction assignment. Additionally, each path includes complete error injection capabilities along with simultaneous error detection functionality for testing and grading a system's ability to withstand faults.
In addition to being able to program both high-speed and low-speed bit rates to match the typical ARINC 429 waveform, this will allow for seamless interoperability with critical avionic components. Furthermore, all channels operate simultaneously, thereby enabling the capture of multiple parallel data bus communications streams at once without dropping any messages due to arbitration requirements. Data buffer memory onboard allows for large amounts of data to be recorded during real-time operations or after campaign operations for efficient isolation of timing discrepancies and protocol errors. In addition, the M3407A PXI interface card includes several built-in PXI features, including PXI triggers, a star trigger, and the PXI 10 MHz reference clock to enable synchronizing with other test instruments such as digitizers, switches, and RF instrumentation in the test rack for coordinated multi-domain measurements.
Examples of applications include manufacturing test stations, system integration laboratories, and field service equipment where the M3407A may be used to validate the connectivity between flight computers, navigation radios, engine controllers, etc., using error injection functionality that introduces deliberate parity errors, gap errors, and/or intentional rate errors. At the same time, the detection functionality will automatically log these events in real time, which enables rapid determination of root cause failures in complex LRUs. Therefore, by combining high channel density, continuous real-time data collection, and direct PXI synchronization, the Keysight M3407A reduces overall integration times and increases the reliability of developing complex electronic systems for modern aerospace applications through automated test architectures.
