Keysight/Agilent M9187A PXI Digital I/O Module
The Keysight M9187A PXI digital I/O module provides thirty-two configurable channels that may each be used independently as both an input and/or an output or combined into a single 32-bit programmable port. This approach reduces the number of signal conditioning modules needed in automated testing and industrial process control. As a result, it's particularly useful for automotive ECU validation applications, semiconductor characterization applications, and aerospace defense tests where variable interface signals decrease system setup complexities.
Input-wise, the M9187A supports signal input voltages of 0.3 V through 50 V with two programmable threshold settings for establishing user-defined logic states. The device has twelve point twenty-one millivolts of resolution and ±200 millivolts of absolute accuracy for determining the onset of events and has built-in over-voltage protection for preventing device damage due to wiring errors. The device has a fifty-microsecond readback settling time for capturing quickly changing events in dirty test environments.
Each output channel on the M9187A can be configured as either "high," "low," or in a high-impedance "off" state. The low-side drive capability of each channel allows it to sink up to five hundred milliamperes (a total of ten amperes) with less than seven hundred milliohms of resistance to allow for directly controlling relays. The ability of each channel to be driven "high" by an external power supply ranging from 5 V to 50 V enables the M9187A to provide up to four-tenths of an ampere of current per channel with its output voltage dropping no lower than one point five volts below the external supply voltage. Soft faults are protected against through current limiting, thermal shutdown, and over-voltage clamping capabilities.
The M9187A can be installed in any PXI hybrid chassis. The M9187A also includes automatic detection using Keysight IO Libraries Suite. The module also offers native IVI-COM, IVI-C, and LabVIEW drivers as well as sample code for MATLAB, Visual Studio, and LabWindows/CVI to shorten the amount of time required for developers to develop their own applications. Additionally, the module also features a soft-front panel that makes interactive debug easier, enabling engineers to set up the M9187A without having to write low-level code, which will accelerate the deployment of automated test systems.
