Keysight/Agilent U8989A PXI Functional Test System
The Keysight U8989A is a functional test system built for modular measurement and load switching. It combines a PXI chassis and switch/load unit into a single all-in-one compact system. The model is scalable with an 8-slot PXI chassis and an 11-slot switch or load card unit. It is deployable as a benchtop system or rack integrated with space optimization up to 8U rack height.
The U8989A is engineered for automotive electronic control unit testing across a range of critical applications. It supports tests of immobilizers, electronic parking brakes, and airbag control units in automotive systems. The electronic clutch applications and body control modules are also within the validated test scope of this system. The model is specifically qualified for LED driver module functional testing.
The signal switching in the PXI Functional Test System achieves speeds as fast as 300 microseconds per complete switching operation. Each matrix card supports a configuration of up to 64 x 4 when paired with the auxiliary option. The switching contacts are rated for up to 100 million operation cycles. The architecture supports multiple signal and load routing configurations across a versatile integrated switching matrix.
The system supports high current switching with up to 40 A across 8 channels per card. An alternate load card configuration provides 48 channels, each individually rated at 2 A per card. Three load card types are available, including single load, dual load, and quad load cards for diverse application flexibility. The current sense capability and flyback protection are standard features to ensure safe and accurate operation.
The load simulation in the U8989A PXI Functional Test System connects to resistive, capacitive, and inductive loads for realistic device testing. The system supports both internal and external load connections for motor type and component simulation purposes. The pull-up/down loads, bridge loads, and multiplexing loads are all supported within the system architecture. The measurement in the model is handled by a 6.5-digit M918xA digital multimeter for precision results. The DMM achieves up to 15,000 readings per second with a basic DCV accuracy of 90 ppm.
