Keysight M5300A PXIe RF Arbitrary Waveform Generator
The Keysight M5300A is a four-channel PXIe arbitrary waveform generator that generates directly synthesized RF signals from DC to 16 GHz. It provides an instantaneous bandwidth of 2 GHz. In addition, it takes up 2 three-slot PXIe cards, combining a high-speed baseband generator, a real-time sequencer, and a direct digital I/Q modulator to provide a number of complex waveforms for test applications related to advanced communications, radar systems, and electronic warfare systems.
In addition, each of the 14-bit D/A converters on each channel can process 2.4 GSa/s (total of 4.8 GSa/s) of baseband I/Q samples and interpolate those to an output rate of 38.4 GSa/s. Each of the modules has a 1 Gsample per channel memory (500 MSa I/Q). This memory is sufficient for providing support for 223 ms long sequences and storing up to 4096 different waveforms for rapid switching between waveforms. The M5300A PXIe RF AWG module also includes an integrated Numerically Controlled Oscillator (NCO) that covers a range of frequencies from 0 to 18 GHz with high levels of resolution in terms of both frequency and phase. The noise level of this module is very low, reaching down to –157 dBm/Hz. At a frequency of 8 GHz, the typical phase noise of this module is –130 dBc/Hz when there is a 10 kHz offset. In addition, the module has very good channel-to-channel isolation (80 dB or greater) over all frequencies up to 16 GHz.
This product uses a custom-designed version of Keysight's PathWave FPGA (based upon the Xilinx XCVU35P) to implement its modular architecture. As such, it leaves approximately 25% of the logic available to be used by the end user for their own customizations. In doing so, the users will have access to nearly all of the CLB registers and LUTS available on the FPGA for developing custom signal processing algorithms, real-time sequencing functions, and emulating various protocols. In addition, eight SMB trigger lines and CIO ports are included for allowing easy multi-module synchronization. SMA connectors are provided for the RF outputs, and MCX connectors are provided for the reference clock inputs at 2.4 GHz. The weight of this product is approximately 649 grams and therefore can fit into most PXIe chassis, including the M9046A.
