Keysight M9025A PXIe Thunderbolt System Module
Keysight’s M9025A is a PXIe Thunderbolt system module, which enables users to connect a PXIe chassis to a computer or embedded controller equipped with a Thunderbolt 3 port via a fast Gen 3 PCIe link. The M9025A provides an alternate to conventional PCIe wiring within a test and measurement environment. Therefore, it may be utilized as part of an automated test configuration, a modular instrumentation platform, or as part of a distributed measurement environment to facilitate chassis expansion and remote control. The dual Thunderbolt 3 ports have both data transfer capability (up to 40 Gbps) and provide power delivery, thus supporting longer cable runs. Additionally, the M9025A is based upon Intel Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3 technology.
Typically, this PXIe system module will be used in industrial automation test benches, validation laboratories, production test stations, etc., where there exists the requirement for a computer-controlled interface to PXIe instruments. This system module is capable of functioning in either star or cascade configurations. Thus, when combined with the appropriate host hardware and cables, the user has the flexibility to arrange their chassis into any desired configuration. When using an external computer, up to six chassis can be connected together in a star or cascade configuration. An embedded PC setup will only allow cascade operation between multiple chassis. As such, the M9025A should prove to be very beneficial in applications requiring additional slots, additional instruments, or greater measurement footprints but do not wish to change the fundamental control architecture.
The product contains one 1-slot 3U PXIe system module featuring two front panel Thunderbolt connectors, power and link status indicators, and support for up to 2-meter-length Thunderbolt 3 cables. Included with the product is a three-slot controller expansion slot blocker. Upon usage, the M9025A will enable customers to create a clear and transparent high-bandwidth interface between the controller and the PXIe hardware. Therefore, software applications will be able to communicate with all connected modules directly without increasing complexity and without limiting scalability.
