Keysight M9046A PXIe Chassis
Keysight's M9046A PXIe Chassis is an 18-slot, high-throughput housing for industrial automation, multi-chassis test systems, and wideband signal capture. It includes three hybrid slots, which can accommodate both PXIe, PXI-1, and cPCI modules through a Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe)-to-Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) bridge, providing users the flexibility of using both newer and older types of instrumentation. Within the M9046A PXIe chassis, there are multiple high-efficiency rails that feed individual per-slot DC-DC converters. These have their own monitoring capabilities as well as options for frequency-switching control, allowing for up to 1675 watts of usable DC power to be delivered from a high-line AC source.
The Gen. 3 PCIe backplane inside the M9046A PXIe chassis gives each peripheral slot 8 Gb/s links for a total of 64 Gb/s, while two-link system slots can support a maximum of 24 Gb/s aggregate bandwidth. External PCs and PCIe adapters enable sustained 16 Gb/s transfers for RF streaming and multi-channel digitizer applications. Three segments of trigger bus connections are also available to be configured along with an optional rear panel with eight SMB trigger connections to make it easier to synchronize multiple instruments without consuming a slot.
The cooling systems used in the M9046A PXIe chassis are comprised of auto-speed fans pulling air bottom-to-top, which will provide exhaust path sensors controlling fan speeds in real time. This will give users up to 85 W/slot at low noise levels, supporting operation to 55°C and 10,000 ft. An Optional Fan Tray Is Also Available That Will Extend Cooling Capabilities to 100W/Slot. Soft front panels, APIs, and/or rear DB-9 connectors provide users with access to system monitoring functions such as voltage rails, temperatures, and fan speeds. Alarms can also be set to notify users when there is a deviation.
Multi-Chassis Power Sequencing Over RJ-45 Connections is supported by the M9046A PXIe Chassis, which allows users to power all frames from one button, ensuring the embedded controller chassis boots last. An integrated OCXO is also included, providing a high-accuracy reference source at 10/100 MHz with ±1 ppm stability, and an optional 2.4 GHz reference source on the front panel supports phase-coherent measurements. This highly scalable platform designed around the Keysight M9046A PXIe chassis reliably meets the needs of industrial automation engineers who need high-speed data acquisition, real-time control, and automated test sequences.
