Keysight/Agilent M9188A Dynamic Digital-to-Analog Converter
The Keysight M9188A provides 16 simultaneous unipolar 16-bit resolution channels that can be used to provide accurate voltage and/or current steps. Each of the sixteen channels can produce either +30V (or 20 mA) directly, eliminating the need for external level translation circuitry when simulating high-level stimuli. Four galvanically isolated banks, each having four individual channels, provide complete elimination of ground loop currents and greatly reduce crosstalk between adjacent channels. Short circuit and over-temperature protection built within the module's output protects against potential damage caused by excessive heat or short circuits. Disconnect switches located on each channel provide a means to completely isolate the channel from the load during either a maintenance procedure or when a fault condition exists.
The M9188A has been designed to meet several common application requirements, including automotive electronic control unit (ECU) testing and simulation of various types of speed or position sensors. With its ability to deliver +30 volts directly through each channel, it eliminates the need for additional signal conditioning equipment. In addition to automotive ECU testing and simulation of speed/position sensors, the M9188A will be well suited for use in mechatronic test systems and multi-channel functional test systems that require isolated biasing. Since the module can simultaneously supply both voltage and current, there is no longer a need for separate current transformers or source measure units, thereby simplifying overall system designs and reducing total system footprint.
Each channel contains 1 MSa of waveform memory and supports update rates up to 500 kSa/s, making the M9188A suitable as a simple arbitrary waveform generator. Waveform memory and update rates enable custom waveform generation using sampling periods ranging from 2µs to 512µs, exceeding typical static DC output capabilities. All sixteen channels share a common clock that can be referenced internally, provided from the PXI clock bus, or input externally via a pair of clock I/O lines. PXI triggers along with an external trigger can be used to synchronize operation with other instrumentation.
Users can easily interface with the software capabilities of this module utilizing various programming languages, including IVI-COM, IVI-C, and LabVIEW G. Utilizing these interfaces allows users to integrate this module into popular development environments such as NI-LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and more. Net.
