Keysight/Agilent M9217A PXIe Isolated Digitizer
Keysight’s M9217A is an Isolated Input Digitizer (PXIe), which includes two input channels. Each has a dedicated 16-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) sampling simultaneously at speeds of up to 20 MSa/sec. These are supported by a full ±256-V input voltage range along with ±400-V peak overvoltage protection built directly into the device. This makes this digitizer ideal as a "stand-alone" option when capturing high-voltage transient events without additional external attenuation. Additionally, the 1-megaohm inputs have 40-picofarad capacitance to support both AC/DC-coupled measurements. The inputs can float independently up to ±40 volts per channel.
The Keysight M9217A was designed specifically for high-level industrial automation and automotive and aerospace defense testing environments. It is used to capture waveforms such as fuel injector waveforms, electric motor drive signals, and power supply transients that contain high levels of common mode voltages or rapid spikes. The isolated front end allows engineers to eliminate ground loop problems in their systems and reduce the amount of money spent on expensive external attenuator boxes or isolation amplifier modules needed to protect their test setup. In addition, the various selectable input ranges available (±250 mV to ±256 V) provide the ability to accurately capture low-level sensor signals that ride on large DC offset values.
The M9217A also offers 32 MSa/sec of total memory per channel and is able to store up to 1024 memory segments. With these capabilities, engineers are able to capture multiple trigger events without having to re-arm the unit. Sample rates may be programmed between 1 kSa/sec and 20 MSa/sec. The triggering functions of the M9217A include Edge and Window on Channel, External SMB, PXI Trigger Bus (TTL and PXI STAR), and Software. This enables users to synchronize multiple units together and time-stamp each event to within 10ns of each other. Users may configure a trigger delay of up to 3600 sec and a trigger holdoff of up to 10 sec to ensure they capture only the desired waveform segment. The Soft Front Panel interface combined with the IVI-COM, IVI-C, and LabVIEW driver interfaces will greatly simplify the integration of the M9217A into your automated test environment.
