Keysight/Agilent M9805A PXIe Vector Network Analyzer
The M9805A is a modular PXIe Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) that covers the operating frequency from 100 kHz to 26.5 GHz and was designed to provide multi-port S-parameter measurements in both automated test & industrial automation applications. Two test ports are built-in to each unit, allowing for a true multi-port design. This allows users to add modules inside of one chassis to expand their port counts. Users may build configurations ranging from 6 channels all the way to 50 fully synchronized ports. Multi-Port Error Correction is used to preserve the calibrated accuracy of cross-bar measurements on complex devices.
Users have access to 140 dB of system dynamic range and sweep times as low as 2 ms for 201 data points, positioning the Keysight M9805A for high-speed production screening of passive and active RF components. Typically, trace noise will settle at .0015 dB RMS. Additionally, temperature stability has been shown to be typically around .005 dB/°C. These characteristics help provide repeatable measurements under changing ambient temperatures.
Its maximum output power of 10 dBm and its ability to use a single internal source allow users to characterize cables, antennas, filters, duplexers, isolators, amplifiers, mixers, and frequency converters. In addition, the Keysight M9805A can be configured to perform spectrum analysis, pulsed-RF measurements, balanced device tests, signal integrity studies, etc. via Keysight measurement applications.
Directivity and source match specifications remain stable throughout the entire frequency band. This helps ensure S-parameter accuracy in both Research & Development (R&D) and production environments. To enable multi-module testing of large networks (i.e., multi-board systems), the Keysight S95551B software enables synchronization of multiple M9805A units into one multi-port VNA setup. Validated setups have reached as many as 66 test ports utilizing six-port variants. Each module operates independently and provides precise timing to other connected modules over provided interconnect cabling. Due to this scalable feature, the Keysight M9805A is ideal for wireless infrastructure testing, automotive radar testing, and high-speed digital interconnect industry testing.
