National Instruments CB-68LPR Connector Block

The National Instruments CB-68LPR (Part Number: 777145-02) is a low-cost, high-density Connector Block. This Connector Block comes with 68 screw terminals and can be used for easy connection of field instruments to controller or timer devices. This Connector Block has standoffs and can easily be stationed on a desktop. In addition, you can also mount this device in a custom panel. The NI CB-68LPR features a 90-degree mounted connector to be used with the CA-1000.  To use the CB-68LPR, you need the following equipment: a 68-pin DAQ device with its documentation, 0.0509 to 3.31 mm2 (12 to 30 AWG) wire, wire insulation strippers, 0.125 in. flathead screwdriver, wire cutters, and the appropriate cables.

As far as its physical attributes are concerned, the NI CB-68LPR is based on board whose dimensions are CB-68LPR. It is important to note that the Connector Block is an unshielded accessory and must be housed inside an appropriate enclosure before it is taken into service.  This Connector Block comes with one 68-pin SCSI male connector. All I/O signals can be accessed at the screw terminals of this device. The four metal standoffs provided beneath the board of the National Instruments CB-68LPR are removable. Thus, you can install the Connector Block in a custom panel if desired. The device hardware and settings can be configured using the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) tool.

This Connector Block is designed to handle <60 VDC voltages. Using >30 Vrms voltages can damage the host computer, termination accessory, and all the connected loads as well. The NI CB-68LPR is a simple device that can be installed without any involvement of special tools. It is a physical layer accessory and requires no software configuration. According to the manufacturer, you should use 12 to 30 AWG wire with this Connector Block for the best results.

The NI device weighs 5.7 oz, and measures 6.60 x 3.00 x 1.15 in. in physical dimensions. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of 0 to 70 °C and -20 to 70 °C respectively, non-condensing operating and storage humidity ranges of 5 to 90% and 5 to 90% respectively.
