National Instruments 777317-2110 Programmable Automation Controller
The National Instruments 777317-2110 is an 8-slot cFP-2110 compact fieldpoint programmable automation controller designed for use in harsh environments. The cFP-2110 utilizes LabVIEW RealTime. Like other programmable logic controllers (PLC), it can be used as a small programmable logic controller for process monitoring or discrete control. Like PCs, they are flexible in terms of programming capabilities. Using a deterministic x86-based CPU, it has many uses, such as controlling valves, performing closed-loop control, and continuously recording data from multiple sensors across factories, test stands, and remote locations that have extreme temperatures and may experience shock or vibrations.
The 777317-2110 provides the ability to attach up to eight I/O modules on a common backplane. The backplane provides both communications and power to all of the I/O modules attached to it. Modular designs allow users to choose the types of signal-conditioned modules to meet their needs, for example, analog voltage, thermocouples, RTDs, strains, pressures, flows, PWMs, and digital inputs and outputs. In order to protect the user and the system from power surges, there are several safety features built into the system, including transient over-voltage protection, backup power terminals to provide redundant power if necessary, and hot-swappable modules to minimize downtime when replacing a module. There is also onboard memory, which includes RAM (SDRAM), non-volatile storage (NVS), and a CF card expansion slot. Additionally, the cFP-1808 Network Interface Module connects to the cFP-2110 via Ethernet, allowing additional I/O modules to be added to the system as needed.
The networking capabilities of the cFP-2110 part number 777317-2110 make it a valuable component for distributed automation projects. The 10/100Mb/s Ethernet connection enables remote access to the system so you can deploy your application, debug remotely, and communicate using TCP/IP, FTP, HTTP, and DataSocket protocols. In addition to these capabilities, it has a built-in web server and file server that enable remote access and monitoring via a browser using LabVIEW Remote Panels. Two serial connections are provided for connecting barcode scanners, modems, and display devices. Finally, it also has gateway support to Modbus/TCP and PROFIBUS networks to expand its reach to SCADA/HMI systems.
