The cRIO-9803 is a solid-state drive (SSD) Expansion Module for CompactRIO systems. National Instruments designs and manufactures the NI cRIO-9803 module. The cRIO-9803 is available with three different NI part numbers: 785921-01, 786677-01, and 785920-01. Part number 785921-01 comes with a mSATA SSD enclosure and does not include a drive. Part number 786677-01 contains 480GB MLC SSD. Lastly, part number 785920-01 possesses 64GB SLC SSD. The main application of the NI cRIO-9803 module is the provision of expansion for CompactRIO systems through a superspeed USB interface to external SSDs.

The National Instruments cRIO-9803 Expansion Module for CompactRIO supports NI Linux Real-time and Windows operating systems. The NI cRIO-9803 has a USB Type C port with a USB 3.1 Gen 1 and SuperSpeed interface. The cRIO-9803 module is capable of 5 Gb per sec data rate. The maximum current that can be supported by the NI cRIO-9803 module’s host USB port is 900 mA. 

The cRIO-9803 Expansion Module for CompactRIO features the mSATA, full size form factor for memory. The drive interface used in the NI cRIO-9803 Expansion Module is SATA II. Furthermore, the cRIO-9803 module is exclusively designed to have compatibility with the industrial applications of CompactRIO controllers, featuring a dynamic and fast read/write execution. The rate of read/write function of the NI cRIO-9803 module is 150 MB/s. The National Instruments cRIO-9803 Expansion Module for CompactRIO comes with a bus-powered USB power source option. This module consumes 4.5 mW power at 5 V voltage and 900 mA current.
