National Instruments sbRIO-9638 CompactRIO Single-Board Controller

The National Instruments sbRIO-9638 (Part Numbers: 787297-01 and 787297-02) is a CompactRIO Single-Board Controller. This Controller comes equipped with an onboard processor, a configurable FPGA, general-purpose digital I/O, analog I/O, and various communication interfaces. The NI sbRIO-9638 comes equipped with an Intel 1.33 GHz Dual-Core processor and 1 gigabyte of RAM. The FPGA used in this Controller has 16 DMA (direct memory access) channels.

This CompactRIO Single-Board Controller has 28 digital I/O lines. These digital lines are general purpose 5 V tolerant lines that can be used in various control and measurement applications. As far as its analog I/O capabilities are concerned, the NI sbRIO-9638 has 16 analog inputs and 4 analog outputs. The analog inputs of this Controller support operating in differential input mode as well.

The NI sbRIO-9638 can acquire samples at a rate of 233 kS/s through the analog inputs. This Controller features an RMC connector that can be used for the addition of 2 C Series modules and various digital I/O interfaces. Through the RMC connector, you can access 96 DIO lines as well. The National Instruments sbRIO-9638 comes with 2 standard Ethernet ports. These ports are capable of auto-negotiation to choose the correct data transmission speed according to the host network. 

The MicroSD card slot incorporated in this Controller is designed to support MicroSDHC and MicroSD standards. Thus, users can extend the storage capability of the sbRIO-9638 as per their requirements.  This Controller features 4 general purpose counters, which can be used with C Series devices or with onboard I/O modules.

sbRIO-9638 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the Controller will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
