The National Instruments 777518-110, often referred to as the FP-AI-110, is a high-performance 16-bit, 8-channel analog input module designed for the Compact FieldPoint system. Because this module has input channels for both voltage and current, it can be used in a variety of industrial automation and monitoring applications. Compatibility with a broad range of sensors and devices is ensured by its eight voltage input ranges (0–1 V, 0–5 V, 0–10 V, ±60 mV, ±300 mV, ±1 V, ±5 V, and ±10 V) and three current input ranges (0–20 mA, 4–20 mA, and ±20 mA).

For trouble-free installation and maintenance, the 777518-110 module has onboard diagnostics and overranging capabilities. By correcting for field devices with span errors up to +4% of full scale and avoiding rectification errors from noisy signals close to full scale, overranging enables the module to measure just a little bit above the nominal values of each range. By regularly checking the status of the module, the onboard diagnostics guarantee dependable operation.

This analogue input module can withstand temperatures ranging from -40 to 70 °C, which makes it appropriate for use in challenging industrial settings. In order to guarantee safety and integrity in electrically loud situations, it also provides 250 Vrms CAT II continuous channel-to-ground isolation, which is confirmed by a 2,300 Vrms dielectric withstand test. With three filter settings (50 Hz, 60 Hz, and 500 Hz) on the module, signal conditioning can be adjusted to provide notches of rejection at multiples or harmonics of a fundamental frequency.

The FieldPoint terminal base (FP-TB-x), on which the 777518-110 is mounted, provides connectors, operational power, and an external power source for field devices in addition to operating power for each of the eight input channels. For voltage (VIN) and current (I IN) inputs, each channel has its own input terminals that are connected to the COM terminals. Installation and wiring are made easier by the internal connection of all eight V SUP connections.
