The National Instruments 786164-01, also known as PCle-5763, is a FlexRIO Digitizer Device. It offers extensive digital I/O capabilities with its Molex™ Nano-Pitch I/O™ connector. It supports a 5.0 V power supply with a ±5% tolerance and can handle up to 50 mA nominally. The digital I/O includes various signal types and directions: MGT Tx± and MGT Rx± <3..0> signals utilize Xilinx UltraScale GTH for output and input respectively, while the DIO <7..0> signals are single-ended, bidirectional. The 786164-01 device provides a DC 5.0 V output and ground connection. The eight single-ended channels support voltage families of 3.3 V, 2.5 V, 1.8 V, 1.5 V, and 1.2 V, with input and output impedances of 100 kΩ and 50 Ω. They also feature per-channel direction control with a 200 ns minimum direction change latency.
The NI 786164-01 high-speed serial MGT offers data rates from 500 Mb/s to 16.375 Gb/s while featuring four Tx and four Rx channels. The MGT Tx channels provide a minimum differential output voltage of 170 mV (peak-to-peak) into a 100 Ω load. The Tx channels are AC-coupled with an internal 100 nF capacitor. On the other hand, the MGT Rx channels have a differential input voltage range of 150 mV (peak-to-peak) to 2000 mV (peak-to-peak) for rates ≤ 6.6 Gb/s and 150 mV (peak-to-peak) to 1250 mV (peak-to-peak) for rates > 6.6 Gb/s. These channels have a nominal input resistance of 100 Ω and are DC-coupled with an external capacitor for coupling.
The KU040 FPGA supports data transfers through DMA, interrupts, programmed I/O, and multi-gigabit transceivers. The 786164-01 features a 4 GB onboard DRAM (divided into two 2 GB banks), operating at a 1064 MHz clock rate, with a physical bus width of 32 bits. The maximum theoretical data rate is 17 GB/s.
Analog input capabilities of NI 786164-01 include four single-ended, simultaneously sampled channels with SMA connectors and an input impedance of 50 Ω. This specific variation of the FlexRIO digitizer device supports AC coupling, with an internal and external sample clock rate of 500 MHz. The analog-to-digital converter (ADC) has a 16-bit resolution. The AC-coupled full-scale input range for ADC is 2.03 Vpp and 1.97 Vpp.
The bus interface of the 786164-01 device uses a PCI Express Gen-3 x8 card edge form factor with x8 and x16 PCI Express slot compatibility. The physical dimensions are 12.6 cm × 26.3 cm × 4 cm (5.0 in. × 10.4 in. × 1.6 in.), and it weighs only 990 g (35 oz.). A fan has been installed in this model to maintain the ambient temperature at 0 to 45 °C for reliable operation.
