National Instruments 779479-01 Frame Grabber Device
The 779479-01 is a Camera Link image acquisition device from National Instruments' PCIe-1430 product line, intended for high-throughput machine vision and scientific imaging applications. Real-time digital picture acquisition and direct transfer to system memory are ensured by this adaptable frame grabber, which can handle simultaneous and asynchronous acquisitions from up to two Base configuration Camera Link-compatible cameras. This device is ideal for use in scientific and industrial settings due to its fast data path.
Ease of installation and configuration is a key feature of the 779479-01. It includes the National Instruments driver software, NI-IMAQ, which makes controlling this and other National Instruments image acquisition devices directly easy. Users no longer have to program the device at the register level in order to run their programs thanks to this software. The camera files, which come with the NI-IMAQ driver software and are verified by National Instruments, set up the 779479-01 with the necessary data regarding the output format of the camera.
For interacting with cameras that are compatible with Camera Link, the device has MDR 26-pin connectors installed. An isolated digital I/O (DIO) line is included on the front panel of the 779479-01, but an NI Camera Link I/O Extension Board can be utilized for more sophisticated functionality like triggering and pulse-train outputs. Utilizing a quadrature encoder is also made easier by this extension board. This device can be combined with the Motion Control or Data Acquisition (DAQ) product lines from National Instruments for more advanced digital or analog system triggering or additional digital I/O lines.
Image capture systems have the difficulty of synchronizing several processes to a common trigger or timing event. Using the Real-Time System Integration (RTSI) bus, the 779479-01 overcomes this challenge. By routing extra timing and trigger signals between the National Instruments 1430 and up to four National Instruments DAQ, Motion Control, or Vision devices, this bus synchronizes multiple devices, such as data acquisition and motion control devices, using the National Instruments RTSI bus interface and a ribbon cable. In order to collect many images simultaneously, the RTSI bus can also synchronize them.
