Keithley 7001 Switch/Control Mainframe
The Keithley 7001 is a high-density general-purpose switch/mainframe for general manufacturing tests over the range of applications. Up to 80 channels of 2-pole switching are supported by the mainframe by each slot being able to hold up to 40 channels. High-density switching reduces the need for multiple switch cards by keeping the required equipment minimum while also providing greater flexibility for the system. High-density switching is able to handle the vast range of signals from DC voltage from nanovolts through 1100V, DC current from femtoamps through 5A, RF signals, and light signals.
The Keithley 7001 has its backplane for analog signals eliminating the need for intercard wiring, being much more flexible for configuration. This backplane is also able to handle the connection of two cards for various configurations, being the combination for the addition of the matrix row, the 4×20 matrix, or the 1×80 multiplexer. Integral scan control is provided by the mainframe for the capability for automated test procedures not requiring continuous computer intervention. Up to 100 complete switch patterns can be held by its non-volatile memory, being compiled into scan lists for high efficiency during test.
A vacuum fluorescence display is also provided for display of the open/close state for all the channels collectively, offering real-time channel status. This graphical display is provided for the configuration, changes, and debugging of the system. The 7001 is also IEEE-488.2 and SCPI-compliant, offering the capability for complete front panel and over-the-bus programmability. Besides, the 7001 is supported by the Trigger Link high-speed bus for triggering itself and other instruments, removing communication delays introduced by the GPIB and optimizing the overall system throughputs.
The 7001 is supported by over 40 switch/control cards and features multi-pole switching capability, similar cards can be configured for switching by 2-poles or by switching by 4-poles, and the CARD PAIR mode facilitates the closing of the channel simultaneously through the switching by the slots for switching by up to 8-poles. High signal integrity is achieved by the mainframe by error minimizing for the insulation resistance, the offset voltage, and the leakage current. In its heavy-duty build and high capacity, the best solution for complex switching and control functions for test and measurement applications is the 7001.
