GPIB-PCII, 300 kbytes/s, IEEE 488, GPIB Interface
National Instruments GPIB-PCII GPIB Interface
The GPIB-PCII (Part Numbers: 777463-01, 777463-51, 776092-01, and 776092-51) is a low-cost fully functional GPIB Interface for PCs with ISA slots. The manufacturer of the GPIB-PCII interface is National Instruments. The GPIB-PCII is compatible with many boards such as any TI TMS 9914A controller chip-based interface boards and all GPIB-PCII and GPIB-PCIIA boards which are based on NEC μPD7210. The GPIB-PCII can transform the simple PC, PC/XT, IBM, PCAT or any other compatible personal computers into advanced, fully functional and operational IEEE 488.2 Controllers, Talkers, and Listeners. This transformation can be done by using the GPIB-PCII equipped with the NAT4882 chip.
Standard cables for GPIB can be used for connecting up to 14 instruments with the NI GPIB-PCII. A bus expander or extender by National Instruments can also be used to connect more than 14 instruments with the GPIB-PCII. The TI TMS9914A or NEC μPD7210 mode of operations on this GPIB Interface and I/O base address can be selected with DIP switches.
The driver software used for the NI GPIB-PCII is NI-488.2. NI-488.2 has built-in functions with multiple libraries, such as a language interface library and a dynamic link library. There are also several utilities, including development and debugging utilities. The GPIB-PCII driver software and hardware transform a simple system into multi-functional system that has capabilities of complete bus management and communication. Some other software’s that are compatible with the GPIB-PCII such as measurement Studio, LabVIEW, and LabWindows/CVI can be ordered for much easy communication with the GPIB instruments.
