National Instruments 779123-01 PXI Multifunction I/O Module
The National Instruments 779123-01 (PXI-6289) is a multifunction PXI data acquisition module that combines analog input, analog output, digital I/O, and counter/timer functions in a single PXI module. It provides 32 single-ended or 16 differential analog input channels with 18-bit resolution and a maximum sampling rate of 625 kS/s. The module also includes four analog output channels with update rates of up to 2.86 MS/s.
The 779123-01 provides 48 bidirectional digital I/O lines with 5 V TTL-compatible logic levels. These lines can be correlated with analog operations for synchronized measurement and control tasks. Two 32-bit counter/timer channels support functions such as edge counting, frequency measurement, pulse-width measurement, and PWM generation.
For analog measurement, the module provides an absolute accuracy of 28 µV and includes 2,047-sample FIFO memory to support continuous data transfer during high-speed acquisition. The 18-bit ADC uses multiplexed scanning across the analog input channels, so the module does not acquire all channels simultaneously.
Two VHDCI connectors on the front panel provide connections for external signal conditioning equipment, including SCC and SCXI modules. This allows the 779123-01 to be used with a wider range of sensor types and higher-voltage signals.
The four analog output channels can generate independent waveforms at rates of up to 2.86 MS/s, making the module suitable for waveform generation, closed-loop control, and stimulus/response testing. The digital I/O can be updated at intervals as short as 100 ns. Timing resources include four external clock inputs and a 10 MHz internal timebase, providing additional options for synchronized acquisition and control.
The module operates over a temperature range of 0°C to 55°C. Its functionality can be configured through the NI-DAQmx driver, allowing the same hardware to be used across laboratory automation, automated test, and industrial measurement applications. The PXI hybrid connector also provides compatibility with PXI chassis that support hybrid slots.
