National Instruments PXIe-4844 PXI Universal Input Module

The NI PXIe-4844 (Part Number: 781285-01) does not need any accessories for operation. This module has 2 slots, 4 optical channels, 10 Hz full spectrum scan frequency, 1510 to 1590 nm wavelength range, and can be used with the NI-OSI driver. The PXIe-4844 Optical Sensor Interrogator is designed for fiber Bragg grating or FBG optical sensors. The four optical channels are sampled at the same time at 10 Hz for measuring FBG strain and temperature sensors. This Universal Input Module also has an optical core, which is the combination of a high-power, low-noise swept wavelength laser with fiber Fabry-Perot tunable filter technology.

Each of the 4 optical channels on the PXIe 4844 can scan a maximum of 20 FBG sensor. This means over 80 FBG sensors for each module, based on the sensor range and sensitivity. The maximum quantity of FBG sensors for each module can be increased by linking at least one optical channel to an external optical multiplexer or by adding additional PXIe-4844 modules to the same PXI Chassis. For electrical data acquisition and control, the NI PXIe-4844 Optical Sensor Interrogator can additionally be integrated into the same chassis as other PXI modules.

The user can configure the National Instruments PXIe-4844 PXI Universal Input Module in NI-OSI Explorer, which is a configuration manager that scans the optical wavelength range to recognize every linked FBG sensor. Once the user specifies the range and scaling equations, then every scan will automatically analyze the information into separate sensor measurements and scale the information correctly.
