National Instruments 777551-11 PXI Chassis
The NI 777551-11 represents the National Instruments' 8-slot PXI-1000B Chassis, as it has been built around a rigid 3U backplane and modular power source for the most difficult testing and measurement/automation environments. The chassis will support both PXI and CompactPCI (PICMG 2.0 R2.1) cards that give engineering teams the ability to mix and match instrumentation products from various manufacturers. The frame's design allows for one control card position, six additional peripheral positions and three additional control expansion positions that are placed on either side of the control card, providing flexible and expandable configurations for the entire system. This PXI-1000B chassis meets all specifications in the PXI Specification Revision 1.0 which provide a level of precision in terms of timing/synchronization between cards that make it ideal for multi-channel data acquisition, signal processing and automated test systems.
The power supply in the 777551-11 design provides for a high degree of flexibility. The chassis will accept AC input at anywhere from 90 to 264 VAC and frequencies at 47 to 63 Hz, and will adjust the voltage/frequency based on what input is used. The chassis can deliver as much as 300W of usable output power, but there is also an optional configuration that can be ordered for a combination of DC and AC. When configured with DC input, this module can take input voltages of 10 to 32VDC or 85 to 265 VAC and deliver 150 W when powered by DC. There is a push reset circuit breaker on the chassis to prevent damage caused by overcurrent, eliminating the need for replaceable fuses and adding to the reliability of the product. Additionally, the removable modular power supply makes service easier to perform and reduces Mean Time To Repair.
Thermal management of the 777551-11 is accomplished via two 60 CFM fans, each fitted with filter media. The fans have variable speed drives so they can be controlled to allow for optimal thermal performance and quiet operation. Other features on the 777551-11 PXI-1000B chassis include a front panel switch to put the chassis into a stand-by mode, a rear panel connector that contains remote power status/inhibit contacts, carrying handle, and tilt feet that enable use of the chassis as a bench-top product or as part of a mobile application for industrial automation, laboratory, or manufacturing test applications.
