National Instruments 780291-01 Chassis

The National Instruments 780291-01 is an integral component of the PXIe‑1075 Model series, designed to meet the demands of diverse test and measurement applications. Widely applicable to various instrumentation requirements, it boasts an 18-slot PXI Express backplane that combines superior timing and synchronization features with high-performance capabilities.

For instrumentation purposes, this chassis ensures great performance with dedicated bandwidth of up to 1 GB/s (single direction) per PXI Express slot. It satisfies enhanced PXIe cooling requirements with 38 W per slot. To ensure reliable operation with ± 25 ppm stability, the chassis incorporates low-jitter internal reference clocks for PXI and PXIe slots, which are 10 MHz and 100 MHz, respectively.

The 780291-01 chassis offers versatility in combining legacy equipment with its 8 hybrid slots that handle current PXI instruments. Because of its modular design, it has a low mean time to repair (MTTR) and good maintainability. It also conforms to CompactPCI and PXI specifications.

This chassis is designed to be dependable; it can run in an extended temperature range of 0 to 55 °C and has undergone HALT testing. It includes capabilities for monitoring the temperature, power supply, and fans. Additionally, the field replaceable power supply shuttle guarantees little downtime when doing maintenance.

The chassis has a PXIe System Timing Slot for strict synchronization between several units in order to accommodate multiple chassis. Additionally, switchless CLK10 routing is available with the rear CLK10 I/O connectors. EMC filler panels, front and rear rack-mount kits, replacement power supply shuttles, and slot blockers for better cooling efficiency are examples of optional features.

With two integrated fans for the power supply cooling system and three 165 cfm fans for forced air circulation, the 780291-01 chassis provides effective cooling mechanisms. With a quiet operation of 43.6 dBA between 0 °C and 30 °C, its variable speed fan controller optimizes both cooling and acoustic emissions.
