National Instruments 780691-33 is the part number for the PXI-8110 Embedded Controller with Real-Time Embedded Software and an extended temperature range. This type of software is made specifically to work in tandem with hardware in order to give systems improved control, and to allow systems the capacity to react under time-sensitive conditions. Boasting an Intel Core 2 Quad processor that has an on-die L2 cache with 12 MB, the controller is well suited for a diverse range of applications. 

The temperature ranges of the 780691-33 are extended, in order to better protect the controller from environmental conditions. The extended operating temperature range measure from 0 to 55 °C (32 to 131 °F), while the extended storage temperature range measures from -40 to 70 °C (-40 to 158 °F). 

The PXI 3U size module form factor of the 780691-33 means that it does not come with an integrated CD-ROM drive. However, there are several methods available for the user who wants to install extra software onto the controller from a CD. The first way is to install the software on the controller using a USB CD-ROM via a bootable installation CD. Alternatively, the CD-ROM drive can be mapped to a drive letter and shared with another computer over the ethernet connection.
