National Instruments PXI-8155B PXI Controller

The National Instruments PXI-8155B is a CompactPCI-compatible system controller that is fully compatible with the PXI bus specifications. Well suited for industrial applications, this model comes equipped with a comprehensive range of standard I/O features, including: a 3.5 in. 1.44 MB floppy drive, 1 4 GB hard drive, Super VGA with 2 MB SGRAM, 1 IEEE 1284 parallel port, 1 serial port, 1 PS/2 keyboard and mouse, and 1 USB port.

The NI PXI-8155B is designed to interface directly to the PXI-1020 and PXI-1025 chassis. As a result, this interface provides the signals required to control an IDE device, a TFT LCD, a PS/2 keyboard, and mouse. By type, the NI PXI-8155B is a modular PC sized in PXI 3U form factor, which comes equipped with various peripherals that generally require add-in cards on PCs. The PCI video circuitry incorporated in this Embedded Controller has a 64-bit data path and supports Windows 98 dual display: CRT and LCD.

The PXI-8155B also has a BIOS/RTC block that contains the Real Time Clock Interface and the boot BIOS. To provide the user with optimum video performance, this model incorporates the S3 Virge/MX Series chip family- a combination of RAMDAC and graphics accelerator with TFT LCD support. The chip utilized in this Controller is compatible with the S3 video driver, as well as Microsoft Windows video driver. With this model, the user will be able to use any monitor with 50 kHz of horizontal and 60 Hz vertical scan rate.

PXI-8155B Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the Controller will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
