National Instruments 782835-39 PXI Matrix Switch Module

The National Instruments 782835-39 (or PXIe-2739) is a top-quality 16x16, 2-wire PXI matrix switch module. It is designed to efficiently route signals within automated test systems using electromechanical relays for immediate switch operations. The module supports a topology of a 2-wire 16x16 matrix that provides extensive flexibility in signal routing configurations. It is capable of switching a maximum voltage of 100 V both channel-to-channel and channel-to-ground. Each channel can handle a maximum current of 2 A, and the 782835-39 supports a maximum switching power of 60 W or 62.5 VA. The initial DC path resistance is less than 1.3 Ω (warrantied) while end-of-life resistance is greater than or equal to 2.3 Ω. This ensures reliable long-term operation, with a minimum switching load of 20 mV/1 mA.

The NI 782835-39 module offers a bandwidth of up to 10 MHz with both 1-wire (50 Ω) and 2-wire (100 Ω) terminations, in terms of RF performance. It delivers open channel isolation of at least 77 dB at 10 kHz, 62 dB at 100 kHz, and 42 dB at 1 MHz. Channel-to-channel crosstalk is maintained at -70 dB at 10 kHz, -52 dB at 100 kHz, and -32 dB at 1 MHz that further enhances the signal integrity. The 782835-39 unit offers typical relay operate time of 1 ms and a maximum of 3.3 ms. It is capable to simultaneously drive up to 90 relays. The electromechanical relays are non-latching with contacts made of palladium-ruthenium (gold-covered) and are field replaceable. The matrix switch module's relays have an expected mechanical life of 1 × 108 cycles and a varying electrical life up to 2.5 × 106 cycles for low power operations.

This device operates in ambient temperatures from 0 °C to 55 °C. It is designed for indoor use only and can withstand storage temperatures from -40 °C to 71 °C.  The physical characteristics of the 782835-39 include a 3U, one-slot, PXI/cPCI module form factor. The dimensions of the unit are 21.6 cm × 2.0 cm × 13.0 cm and a weighs only 423 g. The module is compliant with various EMC and safety standards.
