The PXIe-1084 (Part Numbers: 786397-01, 784058-01) by National Instruments is a high-performance test and measurement chassis intended to satisfy a range of industrial application requirements. It enables versatility in instrumentation module placement with an all-hybrid backplane and a hybrid connector type in each peripheral slot. The PXIe-1084 has a strong power and cooling system that can dissipate up to 58 W per slot, ensuring reliable operation even under demanding conditions. Its forced air circulation system, which consists of three 210 CFM fans for module cooling and one 70 CFM fan for secondary cooling, keeps the power supply and module temperatures at ideal levels.

With an operational voltage range of 90 to 264 VAC, the chassis accommodates a broad input rating of 100 to 240 VAC at 50/60 Hz and 100 to 120 VAC at 400 Hz. Additionally, with a typical efficiency of 85%, it can handle an input frequency range of 47 to 440 Hz. For enhanced timing and synchronization capabilities, the PXIe-1084 offers an option for external clock and trigger routing, facilitated by a rear-panel 15-pin connector and inhibit mode switch.

When it comes to environmental adaptability, the chassis operates within an ambient temperature range of 0°C to 50°C for peripheral slots with up to 38 W power consumption per slot and 0°C to 40°C for slots with up to 58 W power consumption per slot. It satisfies the low temperature tolerance of MIL-PRF-28800F Class 3 and high temperature tolerance of MIL-PRF-28800F Class 4 for slots dissipating up to 58 W. The chassis can sustain operational random vibration at 0.3 grms (5 to 500 Hz) and operational shock up to 30 g peak (11 ms half-sine pulse).

The PXIe-1084 is equipped with a low-jitter 10 MHz System Reference Clock (PXI_CLK10) with ±25 ppm accuracy for system synchronization. Its precision spans the working temperature range and has a maximum slot-to-slot skew of 250 ps. It maintains an unloaded signal swing of 3.3 V ±0.3 V, a duty factor between 45% and 55%, and a maximum jitter of 5 ps RMS phase-jitter (10 Hz–1 MHz range).
