National Instruments PXIe-5696 Amplitude Extender

The National Instruments PXIe-5696 (part number: 783128-01) is an Amplitude Extender designed for use with the PXIe-5654 RF Analog Signal Generator. When used together, the PXIe-5696 raises the amplitude range up to 27 dBm. Equipped with 2 slots, this amplitude extender is an invaluable tool for all manner of applications that use the PXIe-5654.

To achieve optimal functionality between the PXIe-5696 and the PXIe-5654, cabling should be kept as short as possible to avoid picking up excess noise. A 30 minute warmup time before use helps ensure that both devices are at a stable operating temperature.

The DC power requirements of the PXIe-5696 differs depending on the power rail that is used. The maximum current drawn by a power rail of +3.3 V is 3 A, while the typical draw is 2.2 A. A power rail of +12 V has a maximum current draw of 2.8 A and a typical draw of 1.6 A.

Designed to withstand a wide range of indoor environmental conditions, the PXIe-5696 functions well in altitudes up to 2,000 m. The device should only be operated in locations where the temperatures are kept within a range of 0 °C to 55 °C. In addition, the relative humidity of the operating environment should be noncondensing and kept within a range of 10% to 90%.
