In its standard configuration, the PXI-8840 RT is offered with 4 GB, 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM (in 1 x 4 GB DIMM configuration). However, this controller has an extended temperature and 24/7 operation version with 250 GB SATA and 5400 rpm. This upgraded version has an operating temperature range from 0 °C to 55 °C, while the standard version’s range is from 5 °C to 50 °C. The NI PXI-8840 RT Real-Time Controller offers a durable platform for real-time control and measurement applications.

This PXI Controller comes with 2 USB 3.0 ports, 4 USB 2.0 ports, 2 10/100/1000BASE-TX Ethernet ports, and several other peripherals. The CPU incorporated in the PXI-8840 RT can achieve up to 3.30 GHz maximum single-core frequency while operating in Turbo Boost Mode. This embedded real-time controller requires 1 system slot and 3 controller expansion slots for deployment.

This controller can be used with real-time OS and is software compatible with LabVIEW and the LabVIEW Real-Time Module. Users can create their LabVIEW application with the LabVIEW Real-Time Module on Windows and download the program to their NI PXI-8840 RT Controller through Ethernet.
