National Instruments 777459-06 Voltage Attenuator Module
The National Instruments 777459-06 (also known as the SCC-A10) is a double-channel signal conditioning add-on accessory designed to be used with portable data acquisition systems. The SCC-A10 can accept a voltage source up to 60 VDC. It has a 10:1 attenuation ratio that scales high voltage levels down to the safe level of ±6 VDC, so they can be sent through your standard multifunction DAQ's. Both channels are single-ended, but use a high-impedance instrumentation amplifier and have low-impedance outputs. Because of this configuration, you should be able to get the best possible scan rate using the E/M series DAQ hardware. If the SCC-A10 is powered on or off, its 1M ohm input impedance remains constant. Therefore, you can expect the same load characteristics regardless of how you measure.
Since the 777459-06 was engineered for precision and safety, it features a total gain error up to ±0.14% of the reading maximum and a total offset error of no more than ±6.5 mV referenced back to the input. Also featured is a common mode rejection ratio of 60 dB or better from DC to 60 Hz. This means that the SCC-A10 can reject all types of noise present on the input leads. For protecting your measurement equipment, the 777459-06 features robust overvoltage protection for your connected DAQ system of up to 250 Vrms. This protects against high-voltage transient conditions that may occur by accident. The SCC-A10 also has good dynamic performance with a -3 dB bandwidth of 10 kHz and an output settling time of 15 microseconds to within 0.01% of nominal input voltage. It is well-suited for measuring slowly changing signals in industrial test and monitor-type applications.
Installation of the NI 777459-06 into an SC-2345 or SC-2350 carrier chassis is simple and straightforward since the module routes attenuated signals to DAQ device channels X and X + 8. Wherein X is a number that ranges from 0 to 7. The attenuation circuitry includes high-impedance bias resistors that allow you to connect both floating inputs and ground-referenced inputs directly without having to use any external bias components. Since there is an analog power consumption of only 100 MW max and a negligible digital power draw, the NI 777459-06 is a very efficient solution for expanding the voltage measurement capabilities of NI's portable signal conditioning systems.
