National Instruments SCC-LP06 Lowpass Filter Module
The National Instruments SCC-LP06 (Part Number: 777459-31) is a precision, low-pass filter module specifically designed for use with the SCC (Signal Conditioning Carrier) system. The two independent signal channels of the SCC-LP06 contain fourth-order Butterworth filters in each channel. As noted for its flat passband and sharp roll-off, the SCC-LP06 guarantees accurate filtering of the input signals with the retention of signal fidelity.
Each channel of the SCC-LP06 can accept differential input signals as high as ±10 V. These are reduced by a factor of two by a differential amplifier before being presented to the Butterworth filter circuit. The design of the module ensures that the filtering is identical in each channel, with a defined cut-off frequency characteristic of the module type. It accommodates various configurations, whether it is used in standalone operation or cascaded with additional SCC modules to increase signal conditioning applications. Such cascading is particularly useful in systems where additional low-pass filtering is needed, along with attenuation or other processing steps.
This module is particularly suited for applications where the suppression of high-frequency noise or signal components, which can disturb data acquisition systems, is necessary. It performs exceptionally well as an anti-aliasing filter; it smoothly removes signal components above the Nyquist frequency to prevent aliasing when digitizing signals. Its strong filtering characteristics guarantee a seamless attenuation of undesirable frequencies and therefore the maintenance of integrity in the wanted signal components.
Made for use with National Instruments SC-2345 and SC-2350 carriers, the SCC-LP06 module makes a direct interface to E Series DAQ devices easy. It allows easy installation and requires only a standard SCC analog input socket. Additionally, the module supports the software scaling capabilities of NI-DAQ and may be calibrated to provide a means of ensuring optimal gain accuracy.
