National Instruments SCXI-1162 Digital I/O Module

The NI SCXI-1162 (Part Number: 776572-62) is an optically isolated Digital Input Module, which can interface to field digital logic signals where common-mode voltages may exist, such as TTL and CMOS. The SCXI-1162 can function well with the National Instruments MIO-16 and AT-MIO-64F-5 boards; Lab-NB, Lab-PC, Lab-PC+, Lab-LC, and PC-LPM-16 boards; and with the DIO-24, DIO-32F, and DIO-96 boards. It is possible to control more than one NI SCXI 1162 module in one chassis with a single data acquisition board. Additionally, the SCXI-1326 shielded terminal block can be used with this module for direct signal attachment with screw terminals. It has 32 channels, a reference voltage range of +5 to +10 V, an input impedance of 360, and a serial data rate of 580 reads per second.

The back connector on the SCXI-1162 Digital I/O Module can be configured to transmit information from the inputs in parallel, or to create a serial communication link with the SCXIbus. The user can additionally configure the back connector to link to a DIO-type or an MIO-type data acquisition board. The user can set jumpers on the module to arrange the back connector. On the other hand, when the user is controlling the National Instruments SCXI-1162 module with the SCXIbus and not utilizing the back connector, the locations of the configuration jumpers do not matter. It is imperative to note that the module in the chassis which is cabled to a DAQ board must be arranged to enable reads from module registers. To be more specific, the module must be arranged to transmit information from the SCXIbus MISO line to the SERDATOUT pin of the module back connector. The NI SCXI-1162 comes with six jumpers that can be configured by the user and one reserved jumper.

The SCXI-1162 is run using the NIDAQmx driver software which is compatible with software packages/application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or Measurement Studio. The NI device measures 1.2 x 6.8 x 8.0 in. in physical dimensions.

SCXI-1162 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the module will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
