National Instruments SCXI-1600 Data Acquisition Module
Featured with a 16-bit ADC, the NI SCXI-1600 (Part Number: 776572-1600) is a USB Data Acquisition Module (DAQ) for SCXI. This module is a full-featured control and data module for SCXI digital I/O, switching, analog input, and analog output modules. It has a sampling rate of 200 kS/s. The user can install the SCXI-1600 in a Signal Conditioning Extension for Instrumentation (SCXI) chassis and provide clock, calibration, and external digital trigger connections for all other modules installed in the chassis. With this module, the user can get any SCXI chassis transformed into a robust and reliable plug & play data acquisition system.
The NI SCXI 1600 receives analog signals from other modules and digitizes, amplifies, and transfers data via a USB port. It is one of the easiest to configure and calibrate devices since it has no jumpers, potentiometers, or DIP switches. By connecting it to other SCXI modules, this module can acquire up to 352 analog signals from RTDs, thermocouples, strain gauges, current sources, and voltages.
The NI SCXI 1600 is USB compatible, which supports powered or hot insertion into the USB port. For time-related functions, this Data Acquisition Module utilizes a robust system timing controller called the National Instruments DAQ-STC.
To control the analog input, the DAQ-STC consists of three timing groups. This module comes equipped with four LEDs on the front panel. There is a set of green LEDs to monitor the V+ and V– rails of the chassis. The other two LEDs show the active and ready state of the SCXI-1600 Data Acquisition Module. For calibration, a dedicated BNC connector is also provided on the front panel of this module.
The NI device is run using the NIDAQmx driver software which is compatible with software packages/application development environments such as LabVIEW, LabWIndows/CVI, or Measurement Studio. It has a recommended warm-up time of 30 minutes, and should be externally calibrated at least once a year. The NI device measures 7.2 x 6.8 x 1.2 in. in physical dimensions.
SCXI-1600 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the module will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
The SCXI-1600 is available to be calibrated. While the recommended calibration period for individual parts varies, most parts should be calibrated either annually or every two years to ensure accuracy. If you need the SCXI-1600 calibrated, Apex Waves provides options. We offer high-quality NIST accredited calibrations through a 3rd party, with an average turnaround time of 1 to 2 weeks. When you order the SCXI-1600 with us, you can request basic (unaccredited) in-house calibration that will calibrate the part to the manufacturer specifications prior to being shipped. Call or email us today for more information about calibrating the SCXI-1600!
