National Instruments ISC-1781 Smart Camera

Featured with a robust combination of an onboard processor and a CMOS image sensor, the National Instruments ISC-1781 (Part Numbers: 785147-01, 785145-01, 785146-01, 785144-01) is a Smart Camera designed for industrial applications. This model offers acquisitions in 1280 x 1024 resolution through its powerful, 1.3 MP sensor. The NI ISC-1781 is available in color and monochrome variations. With the color model, up to 35 fps frame rate can be achieved. The monochrome model can provide an astonishing frame rate of up to 85 fps.

The I/O and power connector of this camera has a dedicated, analog dimmer output. This dimmer output is intended to be used with the ICS 3 system for strobed or continuous lighting operations. The standard Ethernet port incorporated in the camera offers straightforward integration with other industrial equipment, control systems, and sensors.

The National Instruments ISC-1781 can be acquired with either Microsoft Windows or Windows 10 Enterprise installed. A Dual-Core 1.58 GHz Intel Celeron Processor is incorporated in this camera. As far as its memory characteristics are concerned, 2 GB, DDR3L SDRAM type System RAM is provided to ensure acquisitions without lag. Moreover, 32 GB nonvolatile memory is also present for internal storage of images.

The NI ISC-1781 consumes 10.8 Watts of power while operating at 24 VDC. It is important to note that this model is designed to be powered through a 24 VDC power source only. The 12-pin male M12 VGA/USB connector can be utilized to attach external display devices.

Question: I’m using a Caspian C-39N0-160-I2C lens with the NI ISC-1781. Why can’t I communicate with the lens or change the focal point, even after restarting it?

Answer: The Caspian C-39N0-160-I2C lens communicates with the NI ISC-1781 via the I2C protocol, which requires the NI-VISA software to be installed on the Smart Camera. After installing NI-VISA, restart the ISC-1781 and try again.

 

Question: I purchased an ISC-1781 Smart Camera and installed NI Vision Acquisition Software August 2016. The Smart Camera is not showing up in NI MAX. How do I fix this?

Answer: The ISC-1781 and other ISC-178x Smart Cameras require NI-DAQmx 16.2 or later. If you install NI Vision Acquisition Software 17.1 or later, then your problem should be fixed.
