Pickering 40-516-002 PXI Matrix Module
The Pickering 40-516-002 is a high-density two-pole PXI matrix module that is used for many demanding test and measurement applications. The 40-516-002 is designed as a very dense, high-performance signal routing solution to route 64 pairs of two-wire connections simultaneously. This module has been designed for use in high-level applications where higher density, lower cost, and higher reliability are needed when compared to standard reed relays. Due to the high density and higher reliability of this product, it is particularly suited for the needs of the telecommunications, functional test, and automated test equipment (ATE) markets, where the need to route send and receive signals together for the purpose of maintaining signal integrity and accuracy of testing is crucial.
The 40-516-002 uses high-quality, electro-mechanical relays with palladium-ruthenium, gold-plated bifurcated contacts, which provide a very low and stable path resistance of approximately 600 mOhms, with a long-term cycling rating of greater than 1 billion cycles at rated load conditions. The Matrix Module can switch up to 2 amps hot and cold, with a maximum DC voltage of 300 volts and AC voltage of 250 volts, with a maximum power handling capability of 60 watts. The fast-operating time of less than 3 milliseconds will allow you to execute your tests much faster. Pickering also provides a spare relay mounted on the PCB to enable quick replacement of the failed relay to minimize system downtime and maximize test system availability.
The Pickering Matrix Module is a completely self-contained unit and therefore does not require any additional hardware to be added to your test framework. In addition to being self-contained, the 40-516-002 comes complete with a full suite of software support, including VISA, IVI, and kernel drivers for use with Windows and other programming environments such as National Instruments LabVIEW and Mathworks MATLAB. For diagnostic and control purposes, the model is fully supported by Pickering's eBIRST test tool for quick and easy fault detection and the Switch Path Manager software for simplified signal routing configuration. The 40-516-002 can be installed into any standard 3U PXI, or compatible LXI, modular chassis. Therefore, you have a great deal of flexibility when designing your test system as to whether you want a local or distributed test system with reliable, high current signal switching.
