Pickering 40-565B-002 PXI Matrix Switch Module
The Pickering 40-565B-002 has been designed as a high-density PXI Matrix Switch Module (MSM) to provide test engineers and developers with flexible options to route their signals in an Automated Test System (ATS). With the ability to accommodate 4 PXI slots, this MSM can be configured to create a 2-pole matrix of 116x8. Utilizing Electro-Mechanical Relays (EMRs), it will support signal current of up to 2 amps, 150 VDC, or 100 VAC. Its modular BRIC4 structure will allow customers to add only the daughter cards needed to create the desired matrix size, thus providing a highly scalable solution that can expand along with their test needs. By housing a high-speed screened analog bus inside the module, the need for expensive cables connecting external components is greatly reduced, while preserving signal quality and supporting bandwidths of over 10 MHz.
The Pickering 40-565B-002 Matrix Module is an excellent choice for use in functional ATE systems that require the routing of larger voltage or current signals between multiple DUTs. The module also supports parallel testing, allowing many DUTs to be tested at once from a single set of instruments, resulting in increased test throughput and efficiency. In addition, the module includes a comprehensive software package, including IVI, VISA, and kernel drivers that will enable a seamless interface with common development tools such as LabVIEW and TestStand.
In order to minimize the physical size and cost of the overall system, the Pickering 40-565B-002 is compatible with lower-cost 8-slot or 14-slot PXI or LXI chassis. An additional feature of the module is its built-in BIRST (Built-In Relay Self-Test) diagnostic function, which enables the user to quickly diagnose the health of each relay without the need for any external test equipment. The BIRST function makes maintaining and isolating faults in the system easier and ensures that system downtime due to failure of a relay is minimized.
The design of the Pickering 40-565B-002 has also emphasized serviceability; since it uses leaded EMRs for replacing individual switches, it minimizes the amount of time required for repairs and reduces the total downtime experienced during a failed switch condition.
