Pickering 40-877-001 RF Matrix Module
Pickering’s 40-877-001 represents an essential, 50 Ω expandable RF matrix solution for PXI-based automated test systems. This single-slot module includes one (independent) 2x2 RF multiplexer bank and will provide a very compact and cost-effective method to route high-frequency signals at frequencies up to 2.5 GHz. The primary role of this module is to link together multiple test instrumentation with multiple devices being tested and facilitate the management of the signal flow through these devices in various RF and microwave production, validation and R&D testing applications.
Utilizing modern RF relay technology, the module has been engineered to minimize signal degradation. The module maintains a relatively low insertion loss and good voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) throughout its entire operational band. The careful mechanical and electrical design of the module also minimize noise injection and crosstalk to ensure that the signal remains intact to support accurate measurement results. The module has front panel SMB connector interfaces for easy connectivity to typical test system cables. An additional design feature is the ability to externally terminate unused ports on both the X and Y axis via a loop-thru connection, allowing for the future expansion of the module.
Expansion is a critical aspect of the module’s intended use. Many 40-877 modules can be connected together to build custom RF matrix configurations (such as 4x4 or 8x2) without any sacrifice in performance. The ability to create flexible, scalable switching systems makes the Pickering 40-877-001 a viable solution for creating automated test systems that adapt to changing testing requirements. The module has extensive support from various software driver development teams for most popular programming environments (IVI/VISA), allowing for simple control and integration into PXI/LXI modular chassis.
